About:

I have a passion for the outdoors and for helping others discover the magic of spending time in the wild.

I’m currenntly based in Charleston, South Carolina and am working as the Brand Content Manager for Free Fly Apparel.

In the past, I was employed as an Account Executive for RootsRated Media. As an Account Executive at RootsRated Media, I have developed strong sales and management skills. The job requires on-going outreach and networking, an ability to prospect, organize, and manage a deal from the first call to close. Through my work, I’ve worked with clients from an array of industries that include brands like Osprey Packs, La Sportiva, Steamboat Springs, Montana Tourism, Upslope Brewing, and Kampgrounds of America.

Additionally, my past experience as the Creative Director for RootsRated, has afforded me the opportunity to design and manage many integrated marketing campaigns. In particular, through my work with Marmot on the “Fall In Love With the Outside” Road Tour, I oversaw and executed the web design, social media marketing, retail activation, event planning, graphic design, photography, and video production. In the course of just 90 days, I designed, executed, hosted over 22 pint nights, raised over $20,000 for local conservation, and obtained millions of digital impressions along the way.

I have also gained extensive experience in the Outdoor Industry. I grew up stocking Chacos in the back of an outdoor store (Rock/Creek) founded by my father in Chattanooga. Since then I’ve worked with the best specialty retailers and brands in the industry. I’m a recent Outdoor Industry Association Future Leadership Academy Graduate, where I received personal and professional development opportunities including education about important outdoor industry issues, leadership training and mentoring from industry veterans. I joined RootsRated as employee number 1. Since then, I’ve focused on growing into one of the outdoor industry's most loyal and hardworking advocates.  I have also focused on becoming a consummate professional leader within a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.

I’ve known Jake since he was in school as a graphic design major, and he worked for me several times as an assistant photographer. He was talented and a hard worker, and I was struck by his infectious positivity. Since then I’ve had the pleasure of working him professionally and knowing him as a friend. He has a true passion for the outdoors, an unshakable work ethic, and most importantly
he is a natural leader, motivating and lifting up those around him to do their best work.

I met Jake working on a project as part of the Outdoor Industry Association’s Future Leadership Academy. Our team put 10 military veterans on a river trip with 10 Outdoor Industry professionals to jump-start a network to get interested Vets an entrée into our Industry. In our short time together, Jake impressed me with his work ethic, creativity, calm presence, but mostly with his authenticity and kindness. I walked away from our work together with a sense of achievement – Jake helped lead us to tackle a problem with a novel approach to complete success – but more importantly, I now have in Jake a friend I can trust!
